In Stryi district, 12-year-old boy injured while operating power tiller

In Stryi district on 6 July at around 12:00, a 12-year-old boy was injured while operating a power tiller. This was reported by Stryi District Police Department.

According to preliminary information, a 34-year-old local resident handed over control of a Zubr power tiller to his 12-year-old fellow villager. While moving, the child lost control, causing the power tiller to veer into a roadside ditch and crash into a wooden fence.

The boy sustained bodily injuries and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators from Police Station No. 3 of Stryi District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Article 291 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of current transport regulations. The article provides for a fine ranging from two to five thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, or correctional labour for up to two years, or restriction of liberty for up to five years, or imprisonment for up to five years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
