Lviv VET institutions, colleges and schools will study according to international curricula

87 institutions of professional and technical education, vocational pre-university education (colleges) and schools of the region will study according to Junior Achievement international educational programs. In the 2023-2024 academic year, there will be two courses: “Company” and “Financial Literacy”.

In June 2023, institutions of professional (vocational and technical) education and colleges of Lviv Oblast decided to introduce one new course “Financial Literacy” into the curriculum and to continue the “Company” program from the previous academic year. Participation in programs for students and teachers is free.

From the new academic year, international programs will start working in educational institutions in such cities as

Lviv, Boryslav, Drohobych, Zhydachiv, Zolochiv, Kamianka-Buzka, Mykolaiv, Novy Rozdil, Novoyavorivsk, Przemyslany, Rava-Ruska, Sambir, Sokal, Stebnyk, Stryi, Turka, Chervonograd, Ugniv, the villages of Borynska, Dobrotvir, Medenichi, Olesko, Chervone village.

“In September 2023, the public organization Junior Achievement Ukraine will continue its activities in vocational and technical education institutions and colleges of the Lviv region. It is important that in 2023-2024, in addition to the entrepreneurship course familiar in this region, a new course on studying the basics of financial literacy will be launched. Also, the number of institutions participating in educational programs will increase – from 37 to 87,” Andriy Turak, director of development of Junior Achievement Ukraine, told about the educational courses.

Junior Achievement programs have been successfully operating since 1919. As of 2023, more than 15 million students worldwide are enrolled in JA programs in more than 100 countries. In 2022, JA Ukraine received the seal of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the educational program on entrepreneurship “Company” and the course “Financial Literacy”.

As a reminder, in the 2022-2023 academic year, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions were selected as pilot regions, as they accepted the largest number of IDPs. 37 educational institutions from these regions took part in the “Company” entrepreneurship program. More than 300 students, about 50 teachers and 20 business mentors took part. Students founded and successfully launched 40 mini-companies.

On May 26, 2023, the National Competition took place. The “Warm up Ukraine” team of the Chernivtsi Vocational Lyceum of Automobile Service with the business project of creating portable turbo stoves became the winner. In July 2023, this student team will represent Ukraine at the Gen-E European youth entrepreneurship competition in Istanbul.

Certificate. Junior Achievement Ukraine is a provider of entrepreneurship and financial literacy training programs for young people. The organization is part of the worldwide Junior Achievement network, which has been operating since 1919 in more than 100 countries. Its mission is to prepare young people for the labor market, career and personal development.

The public organization Junior Achievement Ukraine was created in October 2021. The first participants in its educational programs and events were students and teachers of institutions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. After a full-scale invasion, the program started in Lviv and Chernivtsi regions from September 2022. From September 2023, it is planned to expand to 6 more regions – Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi regions and the city of Kyiv.
