Planned maintenance under way on the Hirne–Drohobych water main

On 30 July, scheduled maintenance is being carried out on the Hirne–Drohobych trunk water main, which means that water supply in certain districts may be restored gradually. This was reported by Drohobych City Council.

In Drohobych, on Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Street, municipal services are replacing shut-off valves. At the same time, emergency crews are working in hard-to-access field sections in Stebnyk and the village of Ulychne, where they are eliminating leaks on the water main.

At the Hirne pumping station, power engineers are performing preventive maintenance on high-voltage power equipment and carrying out repairs to disconnectors near the wells on 10 kV overhead power lines. In total, 38 employees and 14 units of specialised machinery have been deployed.

Once all scheduled operations have been completed, the water supply to consumers will be restored in stages. Utility workers warn that immediately after the pumping station is restarted, increased water turbidity and higher chlorine content are possible.

Residents are advised, once water reappears in their taps, first to run off a small amount, and not to drink the water unboiled during the first few hours. For drinking purposes, it is recommended to use the water only after boiling.
