Ukraine is changing its air raid alert system: from now on, alerts will be accompanied by an indication of a yellow or red danger level, as well as an updated procedure for issuing the all-clear signal.
The yellow level indicates a drone threat. In this case, the ‘Air raid alert’ signal will be broadcast taking into account the districts of the region where the danger has been recorded. Each audible message will last 30 seconds and will be repeated three times.
The red level is set in the event of a missile, missile-and-drone or large-scale drone attack. In such cases, the ‘Air raid alert’ signal will sound simultaneously across the entire territory of the region. The message will last 1 minute and will be repeated twice.
The algorithm for informing the public that the air threat has ended has also been changed. From now on, the ‘Air raid all-clear’ signal will be issued as a voice message without using the ‘ATTENTION EVERYONE’ audible tone. This message will last 20 seconds and will be repeated twice.
Experts emphasise that regardless of the declared threat level, it is essential to follow safety rules and not ignore alert signals. The yellow level likewise signifies a real air threat associated with enemy weapons.
