Habitat for Humanity International (HfH) is an international non-profit organization that helps people around the world implement affordable housing programs. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, HfH has been supporting Ukrainians in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Germany and Slovakia, accompanying refugees during their relocation and providing medium and long-term housing.

In Ukraine, in cooperation with partner organizations, HfH provides resources for the repair of residential and civilian infrastructure, as well as support for the preparation of the winter period for people affected by the war.

The other day, representatives of Habitat visited the Lviv region and provided assistance to 9 shelters in which about one thousand internally displaced persons live. These are, in particular, dormitories of vocational and technical, vocational pre-university and higher education institutions, as well as social infrastructure institutions in Lviv, Drohobytskyi, Stryiskyi and Chervonohradskyi districts, which were renovated at the expense of the regional budget and the help of international partners.

“Since the beginning of martial law, Lviv Oblast has become one of the regions that sheltered the largest number of internally displaced persons and relocated enterprises. Providing decent and safe living conditions, integrating them into the life of communities has become one of the priority tasks of the region. At the expense of the funds of the regional budget, we are renovating dormitories, which allows us to create thousands of comfortable places to live in a short period of time. We use the support of international and charitable funds, including Habitat for Humanity International, to furnish renovated premises with furniture and equipment. We thank the organization for such important help for people,” Stepan Kuybida, director of the economic policy department of the Lviv OVA, emphasized.

In order to create comfortable living conditions for forced migrants, as well as to ensure that these conditions are as close to home as possible, HfH provided assistance in the form of furniture for a total amount of 2.6 million hryvnias.
