Lviv region collects over UAH 5.9 million in tourist tax in January — Lviv and Truskavets lead the list

In January 2026, Lviv region collected UAH 5,916,418.24 in tourist tax, nearly UAH 700,000 more than in the same period last year. This indicates growing interest in the region even during winter.

The figures were shared by Maryana Kuksa, Deputy Director of the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration and Head of the Tourism and Resorts Division. She emphasized that despite martial law, Lviv region remains attractive for domestic tourism, contributing additional revenue to local budgets.

📌 Communities with the highest collections:

  1. Lviv community — UAH 3,791,972.91
  2. Truskavets community — UAH 575,723.23
  3. Skhidnytsia community — UAH 464,390.04
  4. Morshyn community — UAH 120,322.00
  5. Slavske community — UAH 115,505.00

Compared to December 2025 (UAH 1.49 million), January saw a major increase in revenues, driven by the active winter tourism season.

📌 Accommodation occupancy rates:

  • Lviv — 48.42%
  • Carpathian region — approx. 40%
  • Resort and sanatorium areas — about 35%

Kuksa noted that winter tourism is strongest in Lviv, the Carpathian region, and traditional resort towns.

📌 Most visited tourist attractions in January:

  1. Tustan Historical and Cultural Reserve — 5,005 visitors
  2. Skole Beskids National Nature Park — 4,100
  3. Drohobychchyna Museum — 2,372
  4. Skolivshchyna Local History Museum — 1,405
  5. Drohobych Town Hall — 1,362

Tourists also visited other locations such as the Naguevychy reserve, Johann Zeh Pharmacy Museum, the Ancient Zvenyhorod reserve, and the Yavoriv and Boikivshchyna National Parks.

📌 Tourism development initiatives in January:

Several events aimed at boosting tourism in the region took place, including:

  • the “Therapy through Travel” project meeting
  • a training titled “Territorial Branding as an Economic Tool”
  • an expert session on active tourism trail networks
  • talks with the Frankfurt Zoological Society regarding the “Camping in Lviv Region” initiative

Kuksa highlighted growing interest in lesser-known locations as a positive result of systematic promotion and infrastructure development.
