The day before, on July 3, an accident happened in Stryshchyna. In the local reservoir of the village A 60-year-old man drowned in Velyka Gorozhanna. In view of the increase in the number of such cases, we remind you of the basic rules for recreation near water bodies.
First of all, do not jump headlong into the water, especially if you do not know the depth. Because there is a risk of injuring the head or cervical spine. Do not stay in the sun for too long without protection, as there is a risk of heat stroke or burns. Also, do not go to the water body while intoxicated. Never leave children unattended.
A person who is drowning is physiologically unable to scream or call for help, since the process of breathing is the main function of the respiratory system, and speech is an additional one. In order to speak, let alone shout, it is necessary to be able to breathe. The time during which the drowning person’s mouth is above the water is not enough to exhale, inhale and call for help. If a drowning person is not rescued, he can hold on for 20 to 60 seconds before going under the water.
How to provide first aid to a drowning person?
To get a person out of the water, you can use all available means, but it is important not to endanger your own life. You have to act quickly. The most common cause of death is a lack of oxygen in the body, so after a person is on land, immediately start providing first aid. Someone call 103 and call the rescuers.
If the person does not regain consciousness, place the victim on his back, tilting his chin and head back to facilitate breathing. In this position, you can try to inhale air into your lungs. If you have such a technique, perform artificial respiration.
We remind you that the list of places for safe swimming has been officially approved in the Lviv region. You can read the list here.
