Sheptytsky Affected by Storm: Trees and Houses Damaged

A strong wind that swept through during the weekend caused significant damage across the community’s localities, forcing municipal services into additional work. The area most affected was Sheptytsky, where the storm uprooted 16 trees and damaged 38 house roofs. Overall, the losses involved 25 slate roofs, one soft roof, 10 parapets, and 2 stairwell windows.

The head of KP “Zhitlokomunservice”, Yuriy Kukoba, stated that repairs have already been completed in 8 houses. The Central Market also suffered damage, with the storm breaking its gates, but the issue was promptly resolved with the assistance of the metal structures plant and KP “Kommunalnik”.

In Sosnivka, the storm affected the roofs of residential buildings, while in the villages of Ostriv and Boryatyn, fallen trees created additional problems. The residents of Boryatyn fenced off the dangerous area themselves. Municipal services aim to mitigate the aftermath of the storm by the end of the week. The roofs at gymnasiums No. 1 and No. 2 have been damaged, and work is ongoing.

The city mayor, Andriy Zalivskyi, has instructed for a re-check of yard areas to identify hazardous trees that may pose a threat to residents. The first deputy mayor, Dmytro Balko, emphasised the need for continuous monitoring of the situation.
