Lviv Regional Hydrometeorological Centre has warned of deteriorating weather conditions in the city. According to meteorologists, thunderstorms are expected in Lviv on the morning and during the day on 17 June.
The city Department for Civil Protection and Territorial Defence is asking residents of Lviv and visitors to the city to take the forecast into account and follow basic safety rules.
During a thunderstorm at home, it is recommended to close windows and doors, and also disconnect all household appliances, including telephones, from the mains, as they may increase the risk of a lightning strike.
Outdoors, people are advised not to shelter under trees because of the danger of being struck by lightning and of falling branches during gusts of wind. You should also stay away from metal fences, advertising structures and electricity pylons, and not open umbrellas with metal spokes if the storm has already begun.
In the event of dangerous or emergency situations, residents are advised to contact the city “Hotline” on the short number 15-80. Requests can also be submitted via the Facebook group “Гаряча лінія 1580”, the mobile app “Львів 1580” for Android and iOS, the portal 1580.lviv.ua, or via the Telegram bot Lviv1580bot.
