On 26 June the fountain near the Opera House in Lviv will be out of service

On Friday, 26 June, the dry fountain on Svobody Avenue, next to the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, will not be operating. As reported by the Halytskyi District Administration, the water feature will be shut down for the day for preventive maintenance, and on 27 June it is expected to resume operation as normal.

This concerns the decorative “dry” fountain on the square in front of the Opera House: it does not have a traditional basin, and the jets of water shoot directly from beneath the surface of the square. The central jet is the highest, with dozens of smaller jets of varying height arranged around it.

“On Friday, 26 June, we are shutting down the fountain near the Opera House for preventive maintenance. As usual, we will check whether the nozzles are clogged and inspect the operation of all the equipment. This will last throughout the day. The fountain will resume operation on 27 June,” the Halytskyi District Administration reported.

The city authorities also remind residents that a number of decorative fountains are operating in Lviv. In particular, these include the water features on Svobody Avenue near the Opera House, on Halytska Square (the “Da Vinci” fountain), Krynychna Square near the Pidzamche station, Dvirtseva Square near the Railway Station, Koliyivshchyna Square, on Kopernyka Street (“Well with Lions” and “Volodii”), as well as on Mytna Square and in Stryiskyi Park (the “Ivasyk-Telesyk” fountain).

In addition to decorative fountains, the city has a network of drinking fountains. These are located, in particular, on Rynok Square near the City Hall, on Svobody Avenue (between the Röring flowerbed and the monument to Taras Shevchenko and near the Opera House opposite the National Museum), in the “Na Valakh” square on Pidvalna Street, on Stepana Bandery Street near the Organ Hall, at 85 Henerala T. Chuprynky Street, at the junction of Stepana Bandery and Henerala T. Chuprynky Streets, on Ye. Malanyuka Square, Mytna Square, at 175a Lychakivska Street, at the junction of T. Shevchenka and D. Bortnyanskoho Streets, on Dvirtseva Square near the Railway Station, at 34 Vyhovskoho Street, as well as in Stryiskyi Park, where two new drinking fountains with separate basins for people and animals have been installed.
