On 22 September, at 12:10, the Rescue Service “101” received a report of a fire in Chervonohrad on Ivasyuk Street. The fire broke out in an apartment on the fifth floor of a five-storey residential building.
Fire and rescue units from Chervonohrad and Sokal were sent to the scene.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene, flames were coming out of the windows of the apartment.
Due to the heavy smoke, the firefighters had to work in special respiratory and eye protection devices.
During the reconnaissance of the burning apartment, the rescuers found an unconscious man in one of the rooms, who was taken out into the fresh air and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After the arrival of the medics, they continued to provide assistance, but the man was pronounced dead. The deceased was the owner of the apartment, a man born in 1962.
The firefighters also brought a woman born in 1963 (the owner’s wife) out of the apartment.
At 12:45, firefighters localised the fire and eliminated it at 12:56.
The fire destroyed household items over an area of 30 square metres.
The fire was extinguished by 14 rescuers and 3 units of special equipment.
