Lysynychi is 613 years old: a charity event to support local defenders will be held in the hromada on Sunday

On Sunday, 22 September, Lysynychi will celebrate 613 years since the first written mention of the village. On this occasion, the community will hold celebrations, a charity fair and an auction. The funds raised at the event will be transferred to the soldiers from the same village.

This was reported by the Department of Administration and Community Development of Lviv City Council.

“Lysynychi is one of the oldest settlements of the Lviv Metropolitan Territorial Community. The name was first documented in official sources in 1411. In the midst of the war, the community decided to celebrate this important date with a volunteer event, including a fair, an auction, performances and competitions. The organisers have also prepared a surprise. You will be able to find out what it is about at the charity event on Sunday,” said the Lviv City Council’s Department of Administration and Community Development.
The event will take place at the local People’s House at 2a Vynnykivska Street. The beginning is at 14:00.

“We invite everyone to celebrate the important date of our community together. And also to join the volunteer goal of raising funds for local defenders who are now fighting for the integrity and freedom of Ukraine – Bohdan Klepar, Andriy Paliukh, Marian Kindratskyi, Roman Hrytsyk and volunteers who make drones,” the community office in Lysynychi said.

The Department of Administration and Community Development of the Lviv City Council prepared interesting facts about the village:

  • In Lysynychi, there is the highest point in the vicinity of Lviv, 414 metres above sea level. These are the Chotovi, or also called Chortovi, Chatovi rocks. Remains of material culture from the time of King Danylo were once found on the territory of these rocks;
  • In 1648, there was a Cossack camp headed by the Cossack foreman and Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky;
  • the territory of the Lysynychiv forest was used for military training of recruits of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen;
  • it was in this community that the monument to Taras Shevchenko was erected in 1911. It was one of the first monuments to the poet in Ukraine.
