World Tourism Day Celebrated in Lviv Region

On September 26, ahead of World Tourism Day, a thematic event dedicated to the power of travel as a means of emotional and psychological recovery for veterans, servicemen, and their families was held at the Superhumans Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in Vynnyky.

This year’s main theme is the “Travel Therapy” project, which is implemented within the regional target program for the development of tourism and resorts in Lviv region. “Every journey begins with the road. And no matter how well we plan, there are always challenges that change our direction but open new horizons,” said Roman Khimiak, Director of the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism of LODA. “At the Superhumans Center, many people are starting a new path, and it is impossible to walk it without support. Thank you to everyone involved in ‘Travel Therapy’ — our team, partners, mentors. Special thanks to the Superhumans team and Olga Rudnieva for making this center a symbol of a new dawn for Ukraine.”

Within the framework of the “Travel Therapy” project in 2025, 35 journeys have already taken place, involving more than 1000 participants — veterans, servicemen, and their families from more than 30 military formations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, rehabilitation centers such as Superhumans, Galicia, NextStep Ukraine, as well as representatives of veteran and charitable organizations.

Participants had the opportunity to travel around Lviv region for free: climbing the Carpathian peaks, kayaking on rivers, visiting natural parks, historical sites, shrines, and participating in traditional craft workshops. Overall, about 50 events are planned this year, 35 of which have already been implemented.

During the event, the first adaptive outdoor clothing line in Ukraine — Turbat Adapt, created in collaboration with veterans and the Superhumans team, was presented. The line includes jackets and pants specifically designed for people with prosthetics: featuring magnetic zippers that can be fastened with one hand and pants that can be worn without removing the prosthesis. All materials have been tested both in the mountains and in everyday life. The main goal is to make adaptive functional clothing accessible in Ukraine. Among the guests of the event was Andriy Bandrivskyy, the founder of Gorgany.

“We often ask our heroes: ‘Why do you need legs?’ And we hear: ‘To conquer Hoverla.’ For them, journeys are about a life that is not postponed,” shared CEO of Superhumans Olga Rudnieva. “We strive for every veteran to have the opportunity to explore Ukraine, be inspired, and recover. Together with their ‘iron legs,’ we will conquer every inch of Ukrainian land — first in the west and then in the east.”

During the event, representatives of organizations actively contributing to the development of the tourism sector and the “Travel Therapy” project were honored with acknowledgments from the leaders of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Lviv Regional Council, and the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism. The final chord of the event was the performance of a DJ, a serviceman undergoing rehabilitation at Superhumans. A delicious snack was provided by the Daily Dose restaurant and SHOco confectionery.
