The repair of the wooden pedestrian bridge between V. Vynnychenko Street and the defensive wall of the Bernardine Ensemble has been completed today.
According to the Galician District Administration, as of today, the passage across the bridge has been fully opened, but the repair work at the location will continue for another week.
“We started repairing the bridge in early October. The contractor dismantled the old bridge structures and installed new ones made of hardwood – the flooring is made of ash, and the sidewalls (handrails) are made of oak. All of this is covered with varnish and linseed stain, which is a good protection of wood from ultraviolet radiation, moisture and deterioration.
All the work on the bridge has been completed, and as of today, the passage through it is fully open. However, at the location itself, it remains to finish the stairs on both sides and complete the landscaping,” the Halychyna District Administration said.
As a reminder, on 24 July, repair work began between the defensive wall of the Bernardine Ensemble and Vynnychenko Street to ensure proper passage for residents. Paving will be done here, railings will be made on the staircases, and the area will be paved with FEM tiles. The rest of the project will be mothballed and resumed after the war is over.
