Safety Improvements to be Made on 15 Streets in Lviv

The Lviv City Traffic Safety Commission has approved changes to enhance movement on at least 15 streets. This initiative aims to reduce transit traffic through residential areas, expedite emergency services’ access, and increase pedestrian safety. The decisions made include adjustments to one-way street directions, introduction of residential zones, and the establishment of additional lanes and pedestrian crossings.

Among the streets to undergo changes are Karmaliuk and Skovorody Streets, where one-way directions will be altered to facilitate access for emergency medical services. Another change includes organising one-way traffic on Povstanska Street, easing vehicle movement during peak hours near the Stus Lyceum.

On Trakt Hlynianskyi Street, road width will be used more effectively by setting up an additional lane. Additionally, on Pancha Street, pedestrian crossings will be enhanced with raised structures to encourage vehicular traffic to slow down.

By the end of May, transit traffic through the Sknyliv Lanes is to be restricted by installing “Residential Area” signs, aimed at reducing hazards for residents. Plans for June include regulating parking on Naukovyi Street, which will facilitate movement near educational institutions.

These changes are expected to allow city residents to move safely and comfortably through their streets, with emergency services operating more efficiently. Oleh Zabarilo, Director of the Department of Urban Mobility, emphasised that these decisions will address problematic areas and make city movement safer for everyone.
