From 9 June, routine repairs to the road surface will begin in Lviv on the odd-numbered side of Stryiska Street on the inbound carriageway – on the section from St John Paul II Avenue to the Lviv city boundary. This was reported by the Sykhiv District Administration.
As the district administration notes, the same scope of works will be carried out on this section as on the opposite side: the old asphalt will be milled off and a new surface laid.
The repairs will be carried out in two stages: first on the section from Vernadskyi Street to St John Paul II Avenue, where the works are expected to last for up to three weeks, and then from Vernadskyi Street to the city boundary.
According to the Transport Department, on 9 June all public transport running along Stryiska Street towards the city will operate as normal. Any possible changes to routes from 10 June will be announced separately.
For most of the time, traffic on the road will be maintained, as milling works will be carried out lane by lane: while works are under way on one lane, the other two will remain open to traffic. Only during asphalting will the section under repair be completely closed for a few days, with two-way traffic organised on the opposite side of Stryiska Street.
The Sykhiv District Administration adds that during milling, traffic on side streets will remain open, but on days when machinery is working in the lane next to the pavement, there may be occasional restrictions on entry to and exit from these streets onto Stryiska.
The works on Stryiska Street are being carried out by the contractor “Onur” with deferred payment. Once the repairs are completed, an additional, fourth, lane for public transport will be created by reallocating the width of the carriageway and applying new road markings, without construction works. As a result, in each direction of the main road there will be three lanes for general traffic and a separate lane for buses and trolleybuses.
As a reminder, repairs to Stryiska Street on the section from Naukovа Street/St John Paul II Avenue to the Lviv city boundary are being carried out in stages: first the even-numbered side (outbound from the city, Frankivskyi District) was repaired, and now works are starting on the opposite, odd-numbered side in Sykhiv District, on the inbound carriageway into Lviv.
