The first of eight social houses for IDPs is being built in Lviv

The construction of social housing for wounded IDPs continues on Mykolaychuk Street in Lviv. The first of 8 houses is currently under construction.

The foundations have already been laid, concrete poured and building structures installed. In total, 700 people will be able to live here. The European Commission has allocated 19.5 million euros in grants for the construction of the housing.

Nazar Yaremchuk, director of the Progresbud construction company, which won the tender for the construction of the first house, said that earthworks are currently underway.

“We have already arranged the foundation, the foundation for the building frame. We have carried out concreting and started installing building structures. We are going to install diesel generators and solar panels to provide the building with uninterrupted power supply. In addition, energy-saving technologies will be used here, including the installation of heat pumps,” said Nazar Yaremchuk.

The housing project managers note that this project is part of the Nefco in Ukraine Green Recovery Ukraine Program, which provides for compliance with green building requirements, focusing on the environment and sustainable development.

As the project manager Yuriy Telipskyi emphasized earlier, the first house will be built this year.

In November 2023, the construction of the first of eight houses for wounded IDPs undergoing rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN Center began on Mykolaychuk Street. On December 15 of the same year, a capsule for the construction of the first house was laid with the participation of the EU Ambassador Katarina Mathernova.

In total, the program envisages the construction of 8 residential buildings, which will be built with grant funds from the European Union in Ukraine, for which the European Commission has allocated 19.5 million euros.
