In the Lviv hospital “Okhmatdyt”, 25 children were injured in one evening. Doctors operated until 4 a.m. Eight of these children suffered cranial injuries. The main causes of the injuries were falls from e-scooters, scooters, and motorbikes, which children were using without adult supervision.
One of the operations involved Kirschner wire osteosynthesis for a 12-year-old with a fractured humerus. Another 12-year-old, with a comminuted femur fracture, had wounds requiring debridement.
Oleksandr Korolkov, the head of the hospital department, urged parents not to leave children unsupervised and to ensure their safety. According to the doctor, adult responsibility and adherence to safety rules can save children’s lives.
