The Lviv Regional Hydrometeorology Centre has warned that a thunderstorm is expected in Lviv on Tuesday, 14 July. The City Council is urging residents to take the forecast into account and exercise caution.
The City Department for Civil Protection and Territorial Defence reminds people of the basic safety rules during a thunderstorm at home: close windows and doors, and disconnect all appliances from the mains, including your telephone, to reduce the risk of being struck by lightning.
When outdoors, people are advised not to shelter under trees, as they attract lightning and can break in strong winds. You should also avoid metal fences, advertising structures, power line poles and not open umbrellas with metal components, as they can attract electrical discharges.
In the event of dangerous or emergency situations, residents are asked to contact the city’s “Hotline” on 15-80. Requests can also be submitted via the Facebook group “Гаряча лінія 1580”, the mobile app “Львів 1580” for Android and iOS, the portal 1580.lviv.ua or the Telegram bot Lviv1580bot.
