A significant achievement has been made in Lviv’s medical field: thanks to the efforts of the specialists at the Transplantation Centre of the First Medical Association of Lviv, transplantation of four organs was performed. The organs were harvested at Kamianets-Podilskyi City Hospital, and the transplants themselves were carried out in Lviv.
These transplants saved the lives of four patients. Specifically, a heart was transplanted to a 43-year-old man who was in a critical condition. The liver was given to a 46-year-old patient with cirrhosis. Kidneys were received by two different individuals: a 39-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man.
Lviv doctors expressed their gratitude to the donor’s family for their crucial and humanitarian decision that allowed several lives to be saved. The Transplantation Centre has been leading in the number of transplants performed in Ukraine for the fifth consecutive year.
“Each transplantation is a chance for a new life,” emphasised Maksym Ovechko, the head of the Centre.
