Oncology forum in Lviv brings together over 200 specialists

The Lviv Oncology Forum took place in Lviv, bringing together over 200 heads of oncology institutions, doctors and other oncology specialists from Ukraine and abroad. Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko and Chair of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Health, Medical Care and Health Insurance Mykhailo Radutskyi also took part in the forum.

During the event, participants are sharing practical experience, discussing modern approaches to the treatment of oncological diseases, the results of new clinical studies and innovative therapy methods. Particular attention is being paid to what the oncology care system in Ukraine should look like in the coming years.

The organisers stress that the Lviv region aims to develop as a powerful medical centre of the country, and the Lviv Regional Oncology Treatment and Diagnostic Centre is one of the key strands of this strategy. Over the past three years, more than 300 million hryvnias have been allocated from the regional budget for the development of the centre, with almost the same amount attracted from the state budget. This makes it possible to upgrade infrastructure, expand the institution’s capacity and introduce modern treatment methods.

At the same time, forum participants emphasise that effective healthcare is not only about funding, equipment and technology. At the heart of the health system are doctors and nurses, whose professionalism and humanity determine the quality of care for patients. It is therefore important to provide young specialists with high-quality medical education, create conditions for working with cutting-edge technologies and ensure access to oncology care for patients regardless of their place of residence.

The Lviv Regional Oncology Treatment and Diagnostic Centre, headed by Oleh Duda, was the organiser of the forum. The regional leadership highlights the contribution of the institution’s team to their daily work with patients and thanks Viktor Liashko and Mykhailo Radutskyi for supporting the development of healthcare in the Lviv region.

Following the meeting, participants stressed the need to further strengthen oncology services so that patients receive high-quality, up-to-date care and medical staff have all the necessary conditions for their work.
