An outbreak of acute gastrointestinal infection has been reported in Nursery #5 “Sonechko” in Sokali. Between 27-29 March, 9 children were hospitalised at the Sokal District Hospital’s infectious diseases department, and today 3 more patients presented with similar symptoms, including vomiting, nausea, and diarrhoea.
Experts from the Sheptytsky District Office of the State Institution “Lviv Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection collected samples for laboratory tests, the results of which are not yet available. A meeting of the Emergency Management Commission was held at the town council, where it was decided to declare an object-level emergency and suspend the nursery’s operations until 3 April 2026 inclusive.
The next commission meeting is scheduled for Friday after the laboratory test results are received, and additional decisions will be made if necessary.
