Lviv schoolchildren have secured the city’s first ever gold and bronze medals at the national stage of the project “Plich-o-plich Nationwide School Leagues”.
The 5th stage of the 2025/2026 school athletics season took place in Kovel, bringing together 3,437 teams and more than 50,000 pupils from all over Ukraine.
The champions among pupils in Years 5–9 were the “White Storks” team from Lviv Lyceum No. 18. The Lviv athletes claimed gold in a field of 21 teams, stepping onto the top tier of the podium alongside their rivals from Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr regions, who also finished in the top three.
Another medal for Lviv was won by girls in Years 5–7. The “Lynxes” cheerleading team from the Ivan Puliui Lyceum took third place at the national stage. The Lviv athletes have now spent their third consecutive season among the top three cheerleading teams in Ukraine.
The “Plich-o-plich Nationwide School Leagues” project is being implemented on the initiative of the President of Ukraine by the Mass Sport Agency with the support of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, and the Ministry of Education and Science.
