
In the villages of Verchany, Myrtyuky and Vybranivka in the Stryi district, memorial plaques have been installed and consecrated in honour of three fallen defenders of Ukraine — Andriy Popovych, Roman Bublyk and Dmytro Kozohlodiuk.
In Verchany, a memorial plaque to Andriy Popovych was unveiled on the facade of Verchany Gymnasium. He was a native of this village in the Stryi community, and served as a camouflage specialist in an engineer-sapper company of the 42nd Separate Mechanised Brigade. While carrying out a combat mission near Novopavlivka in Dnipropetrovsk region, the soldier sustained a severe wound and on 27 December 2025 died in a hospital in Dnipro. He was 36 years old when he was killed.
In the village of Myrtyuky in the Stryi community, a memorial plaque in honour of Roman Bublyk was installed on the facade of the People's House. The defender, who came from this village, served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a mechanic-driver in a mechanised unit. He was killed on 23 December 2024 in Kursk region, on his 51st birthday.
In Vybranivka in the Khodoriv community, the memory of Dmytro Kozohlodіuk was honoured. A memorial plaque dedicated to the resident of this village, a grenade launcher operator in the 33rd Separate Mechanised Brigade, was installed on the building of Vybranivka Gymnasium. The soldier was killed on 4 July 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Pobieda in Donetsk region; he was 33 years old.
The memorials are intended to remind local residents of the price paid by the defenders for Ukraine's freedom and independence, and to preserve the memory of the fallen soldiers.
