Honoring the Memory of Taras Stelmashek: Hero of Ukraine

Taras Stelmashek: A Life Dedicated to Ukraine

Today marks three years since that painful day when the Velykomostivska community lost its courageous son, Defender of Ukraine — Taras Stelmashek.

The Life Path of Taras Stelmashek

Taras Yaroslavovych was born on August 14, 1981, in the picturesque village of Reklynets. His path was that of a true man, a worthy son of Ukraine. After finishing school, he went to work in the mine, choosing a demanding but honest profession. Since 2016, he worked at the “Lisova” mine of DP “Lvivvuhillia”.

In 2014, when the country called, Taras did not hesitate — he stood in defense of his native land. He served in a military mobile hospital, participated in the ATO in Donetsk region, particularly in the city of Krasnoarmiysk. His hands carried life — he operated refueling equipment, supplying machinery that saved lives and protected Ukrainian land.

Dedication and Tragic Death

In 2021, Taras signed a contract with the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He was an electrician in the sound reconnaissance platoon. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he defended the village of Popasne, standing to the end.

But fate decided otherwise… On April 23, 2022, Taras tragically died in a car accident near the village of Novyi Milyatyn. Death was instant… and incredibly painful for everyone who knew and loved him.

His life is an example of courage, self-sacrifice, and love for the Motherland. His heart will forever remain with us — in every memory, in every prayer, in every peaceful morning that he brought nearer.

For his devotion to Ukraine, Taras was awarded the honorary distinction “For the Freedom of Luhansk Region” and the “ATO Participant” medal.

Eternal memory and honor to you, Defender. We pray for your soul. We remember… Glory to the Heroes! Glory to Ukraine!
