
In Lviv, a decision has been taken to install 11 memorial plaques in honour of the defenders of Ukraine who died protecting the state from Russian aggression. The commemorative signs will appear on the facades of nine educational institutions in the city and two residential buildings where the fallen soldiers studied or lived.
The decision was supported by the executive committee of Lviv City Council. As reported by Lviv’s chief architect, Anton Kolomeitsev, the plaques will be made according to the universal design approved in the city for commemorating participants in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Memorial plaques will be installed in honour of the following fallen defenders:
- Taras Besaha — on the facade of Secondary Comprehensive School No. 92 at 390 T. Shevchenka St.;
- Yaroslav Burban — on the facade of Secondary Comprehensive School No. 92 at 390 T. Shevchenka St.;
- Taras Hopshta — on the residential building at 26 S. Petliury St.;
- Andrii Hrytsak — on the facade of Secondary Comprehensive School No. 9 at 40 M. Kopernyka St.;
- Ruslan Kovalyshyn — on the facade of Secondary Comprehensive School No. 92 at 390 T. Shevchenka St.;
- Oleh Kutianskyi — on the facade of Lyceum No. 46 named after Viacheslav Chornovil at 90 Naukova St.;
- Volodymyr Maksymek — on the facade of Secondary Comprehensive School No. 1 at 17 K. Trylovskoho St.;
- Nazarii Rybchych — on the facade of Lyceum No. 94 at 99 Briukhovytska St.;
- Ihor Fedorchyk — on the residential building at 7 P. Pancha St.;
- Oleksandr Kharchenko — on the facade of Secondary Comprehensive School No. 84 named after Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska at 30 Zubrivska St.;
- Ihor Chaikovskyi — on the facade of Secondary Comprehensive School I–III degrees No. 36 at 55-B Volodymyra Velykoho St.
Lviv has a special procedure for installing memorial plaques in honour of the defenders of Ukraine. Under this procedure, commemorative signs may be placed on the buildings of educational institutions where the service member studied, or on the buildings in which they lived.
