Memorial plaques unveiled to two fallen Defenders at Zavadiv Gymnasium in Yavoriv district

At the Mykhailo Verbytskyi Zavadiv Gymnasium in Yavoriv district, memorial plaques were unveiled and consecrated in honour of two fallen Defenders of Ukraine – Ivan Pentsko and Ivan Yakymiv. The Yavoriv District State Administration reported on the event.

The commemorative plaques were installed on the facade of the educational institution in the village of Zavadiv, where both soldiers were born and raised.

Ivan Pentsko was a native of Zavadiv. After the start of the full-scale war, he took up arms to defend Ukraine as part of the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo, serving in the 1st self-propelled artillery battery. The serviceman was killed on 31 December 2025 near Bilokuzmynivka in Donetsk region; he was 41 years old.

Ivan Yakymiv was also born and raised in Zavadiv. With the onset of russia’s full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the defenders of the Homeland. He fought in the Donetsk sector as part of the 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade. He was killed near the village of Zarichne in Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region; the soldier was 45 years old.

Relatives of the Heroes, villagers, clergy, representatives of the authorities, teachers, schoolchildren and young people from the community gathered for the unveiling of the memorial plaques and a joint prayer for the fallen, paying tribute to the memory of Ukraine’s Defenders.
