82-year-old sports veteran Mykhailo Vasyliv from the village of Dobriany in the Stryi community has returned from the World Championship held in Greece, where he took first place and the title of world champion in the 80+ age category among masters and adaptive athletes.
Mayor Oleh Kanivets personally congratulated the seasoned athlete on his latest victory and shook the hand of the legendary sportsman.
Over his many years of competing, Mykhailo Vasyliv has amassed an impressive list of achievements. In particular, at one of the Ukrainian championships he set nine new national records at once, and also became the overall winner of the All-Ukrainian Veterans Sports Games in memory of M. M. Baka.
The community notes that the example of Mykhailo Vasyliv demonstrates strength of will and motivates people of all ages to continue doing sport.
