
Why is this championship important for Lviv region? During the National Swimming Championship in Brovary, athletes from our region secured 5 medals. The event, held from 12th to 15th May, attracted over 330 participants in the ‘absolute’ category.
Lviv region’s swimmers returned with two golds, two silvers, and one bronze. Heorhiy Lukashev claimed first in the 400-metre medley, finishing in 4:20.68, and second in the 200-metre butterfly. He was coached by Andriy Shymanskyi and Andriy Kopetchak.
Sofiia Lesniak triumphed in the 1500 metres freestyle and secured silver in the 800 metres. Her coaches were Olha Logovska and Stepan Hula.
Yurii Svetlytskyi took bronze in the 800 metres. Among other athletes, Anastasiia Artiukh and Oleksandr Lukavetskyi were noteworthy, ranking in the top 6 in their categories, under the guidance of coach Serhii Stetskowych.
The championship was made particularly special by the retirement of Mykhailo Romanchuk, who announced the end of his professional sporting career.
