Lviv native Yelyzaveta Voznyuk becomes double European vice-champion in canoe sprint

Yelyzaveta Voznyuk from Lviv has won two silver medals at the European Canoe Sprint Championships for juniors and under-23s, held from 23 to 26 July in the city of Szeged (Hungary).

The athlete became a double European vice-champion among junior women in the women’s canoe single, finishing second in the 500m and 200m events.

A total of 40 athletes competed for the Ukrainian national team at the championships. Lviv region was represented by six paddlers: Yelyzaveta Voznyuk, Oleksandr Brezitskyi, Sofiia Potsiurko, Nadiia Uhryna, Yana Chychkevych and Olena Chychkevych. Their coaches are Andrii Fedyna, Roman Bundz, Andrii Masliuk and Ihor Slivinskyi.

Yelyzaveta Voznyuk represents the Lviv Regional Council’s Municipal Institution “Centre for Olympic Training”. The Lviv Regional Military Administration recalled that the renovated sports and canoeing base of this institution was officially opened recently.

“Yelyzaveta Voznyuk is a representative of the Centre for Olympic Training. Just a few days ago, we officially opened the renovated sports and canoeing base of this institution. High-quality sports infrastructure is the key to Lviv region winning even more medals at international competitions. When there are proper conditions for training, there is good preparation, and consequently, results,” noted the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
