The Ukrainian Funakoshi Karate-do Championship took place in Cherkasy, where athletes from Lviv competed. Over the course of 24–25 April, 26 participants represented the region in this tournament.
On the first day, children up to the age of 14 competed, while the second day saw juniors aged 15 to 17 and adults taking part. According to Roman Khimyak, Director of the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration, this tournament served as a qualifying event for the World Championship to be held in October in the city of Šiauliai, Lithuania.
Athletes from Lviv secured 13 gold, 14 silver, and 19 bronze medals, finishing in fourth place overall in the team standings. The team was coached by Natalia Zakharenko, Yaroslav Zakharenko, and Margarita Chmal.
