As part of the League of the Unconquered, military veterans can practice various adaptive sports designed for people with disabilities for free.
Lviv sports schools provide free training for military veterans. This initiative was part of a project of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration called the League of the Unconquered.
Open training sessions for the military were launched at the Yuriy Kutenko Integrated Children’s and Youth Sports School. Last week there was a powerlifting class, and this week – sambo. In general, military veterans at this institution can choose the most interesting of nine sports: athletics, powerlifting, weightlifting, cycling, sambo wrestling, handball, swimming, diving and water polo.
“Within the League of the Invictus, military veterans can practice various adaptive sports for free. These are sports that are designed for people with disabilities. They are adapted to each specific group of people, depending on their capabilities. Competitions are held against opponents who have the same or similar injuries,” says Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Training sessions for military veterans within the League of the Unconquered are already being held at the Halychyna Children’s and Youth Sports School for Persons with Disabilities, the Lviv Regional Center for Invasport, and now at the Yuriy Kutenko Integrated Children’s and Youth Sports School.
The project will soon be joined by the Specialized Children’s and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve “Veslyaryk” and the Dmytro Sydoruk Comprehensive Children’s and Youth Sports School.
