Ukraine Returns to Elite Division of Ice Hockey World Championship

Ukrainian ice hockey players will compete in the elite division of the Ice Hockey World Championship for the first time in 20 years, made possible by their 3-1 victory over Japan and the draw between the Polish and Lithuanian teams.

The national team includes three hockey players from Lviv Region: Yevheniy Ratushnyi, Ivan Sysak and Artur Cholach. They previously represented the ‘Halytski Levy’ club from Novoiavorivsk and the Novoiavorivsk Olympic Training Centre, trained by Mykhailo Chikantsev.

This was announced by Roman Khimʼyak, Director of the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration, who highlighted the importance of our fellow countrymen’s achievements on the international stage.
