The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine has launched a Telegram bot for reporting violations in the sale of excise goods.
At the end of October, the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine introduced its own bot in the Telegram messenger — StopShadowBot. Through it, every Ukrainian can anonymously report violations when purchasing household appliances, electronics, and excise goods.
As explained by the Bureau, through the bot, users can send photos, a brief description of the violation, and the address of the retail outlet. This allows bureau specialists to promptly receive signals about risky operations and verify facts that may indicate tax evasion.
“The excise sector is traditionally vulnerable to shadow schemes. Expanding the functionality makes the bot more universal and helps strengthen control over compliance with legislation in the excise goods market”, stated the Bureau.
