Homin Choir of the Lviv Organ Hall sets national record for number of concerts

The Homin Choir of the Lviv Organ Hall has officially set a national record of Ukraine for the number of concerts performed. The National Register of Records of Ukraine recorded the ensemble’s achievement in the category “The largest concert tour in the history of Ukraine”: over the course of one year the choir gave 385 concerts.

The official presentation of the award took place on 16 August in Kyiv after the concert held as part of the tour “This Choir, This Choir… 2.0”. After the performance, the choir members, together with the team and guests, posed for photographs on stage with their certificates, while the audience applauded the ensemble.

As clarified by the Lviv Organ Hall, the record-breaking period lasted from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026. During this time, the choir performed on hundreds of stages, travelled thousands of kilometres and brought together tens of thousands of listeners in Ukraine and abroad.

Homin’s touring activity covered dozens of cities in various countries. In November–December 2025 the ensemble undertook a European tour: more than 30 concerts in 19 cities across 9 European countries. In March–May 2026 a new tour of Europe took place, with performances in more than 20 cities, part of which was interspersed with trips to the USA and Canada. Separately, in April–May 2026 the choir toured North America, giving 18 concerts — 9 in the USA and 9 in Canada.

The Director of the Lviv Organ Hall, Taras Demko, stresses that behind the record lies the daily work of a large team and a powerful impetus for Ukrainian choral culture.

“385 concerts in a year (from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026) is not just a record, but the result of the daily work of a large team. Behind this figure are hundreds of stages, thousands of kilometres, tens of thousands of listeners and an enormous amount of music. For the Lviv Organ Hall it is important that Homin has not only set a record, but has shown how powerful Ukrainian choral culture can be when it reaches out to its audience in Ukraine and around the world,” — Taras Demko

The choir’s concerts have also become a means of supporting the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine. The Co-Director of the Lviv Organ Hall, Ivan Ostapovych, emphasises that cultural events combine art with helping the country, and that by attending concerts, audiences simultaneously contribute to charitable initiatives.

The Homin Choir of the Lviv Organ Hall is a professional ensemble that promotes Ukrainian choral art and reveals to listeners the beauty of the Ukrainian song. The ensemble was founded in 1988 and over more than three decades has given numerous successful performances in Ukraine and abroad, presenting Ukrainian choral music in the USA, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Serbia, Romania, Spain and Sweden. The choir has repeatedly become a laureate of choral competitions.

The municipal Homin Choir performed one of the soundtrack pieces for HBO’s series Chernobyl. In the final episode, the work Vichnaya Pamyat was heard in the choir’s performance.

Since 2023 the choir has been part of the Lviv Organ Hall, strengthening cooperation and exchange of experience. In August 2023 Vadym Yatsenko became Chief Conductor and Artistic Director. Already in October 2023 the renewed line-up of Homin successfully represented Ukraine at the International Choral Festival in the city of Lund (Sweden).

In 2024 the Homin Choir was recognised as the best choir in Ukraine according to the National Rating of the information agency Ukrinform, “Infoboom – Classical Music 2024”.

Alongside its active artistic work, the ensemble consistently supports the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine. Since 2025, thanks to the choir’s charitable concerts, more than UAH 50 million has been raised. These funds have been directed towards the purchase of drones, vehicles for the front line and targeted assistance to people affected by the war.
