The Lviv Organ Hall invites you to a historic concert

On February 17, a historical find, which has been hidden from the whole musical world for a long time, will open on the stage of the Organ Hall. The works of Polish composer Józef Elsner and Austrian composer Johann Ruckgaber, found in the archives of the Galician Music Society, will be performed for the first time. They had a huge impact on the development of musical culture and professional education in Lviv.

The musicians of the Luhansk Symphony Orchestra, the Municipal Choir “Homin” and the soloist of the Lviv Opera Alina Didenko will have the honor of becoming the first performers of rare works, who will perform under the baton of conductor Ivan Ostapovich.

Elsner from Poland and Ruckgaber from Austria made a lot of efforts for the formation and development of professional music education in Lviv. In 1796, the famous conductor and composer Elsner founded the Music Academy in the city – an organization that heralded the appearance of the Galician Music Society in 1838. Almost immediately, the Society founded the Institute of Music, and from 1853 – the Conservatory, which was managed by the pianist, teacher and composer Johann Ruckgaber.

“Elsner’s historical symphony concert. Ruckgaber” will be a solid opening, as it is the first event in a series of symphonic concerts within the framework of the Ukrainian Live project, organized by the Lviv Organ Hall. During this year, the team plans to hold several concerts at which they will perform rare music from the shelves of Lviv archives.
