A film screening will take place in Lviv, telling about the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. More details can be found at city-adm.lviv.ua. The event is scheduled for March 5 at 17:00 at the Memorial Museum of Totalitarian Regimes “Territory of Terror” on Vyacheslav Chornovil Avenue, 45G. The film “Water Will Be Tomorrow” is the directorial debut of Lesia Bakalets and is dedicated to the ecocide that occurred after the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP dam on June 6, 2023.
This film, created within the Media Development Foundation Journalism Lab, participated in the “CineEco Seia” festival and received an award at the “Eco Film Festival by CHYSTO.DE?!”. The film highlights the events that occurred as a result of the dam explosion, including the flooding of settlements, pollution of territories, and the shortage of drinking water in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The film’s events unfold in the village of Afanasiyivka in the Mykolaiv region, where after eight months of occupation, the community experienced flooding and contamination of drinking water sources. Volunteers delivered water to local residents, but the issue of access to safe water remains relevant.
After the film screening, a discussion will take place with the participation of Lesia Bakalets, Serhiy Zhulin, and Olha Sydiy. The moderator will be Oksana Darmoriz. Admission to the event is free, but prior registration is required.
