Lviv residents are invited to the exhibition of a unique artist Maria Prymachenko
In Lviv, the Andriy Sheptytsky National Museum (20 Svobody Ave.) opened an exhibition project “I Bequeath Love. Maria Prymachenko”. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity not only to enjoy the artist’s work, but also to communicate with her through space and time by watching documentaries with the artist.
This exhibition is another look at the work of a unique artist, another attempt to show her art, which speaks to important social issues and is always in harmony with the author’s inner world.
The exhibition includes four thematic sections:
The first section offers to start a dialog with Maria Prymachenko’s work in the “Life and Work” hall, which is dedicated to the depiction of her living environment, work, everyday life, and festive events in the Ukrainian village.
The second section touches upon the vulnerable themes of war and the Chornobyl tragedy, which were particularly poignant in the artist’s works of the 1980s.
In the third hall of the exhibition, in the blossoming Polissia Garden, you can enjoy a real floral diversity. It is home to amazing birds, whose special beauty is seen in the exhibited works and “heard” through their familiar voices. Of course, the beloved “Bestiary” by Mariia Prymachenko is also included, which contains drawings depicting both fantastic and “familiar” Polissya animals, which, despite their ridiculously bizarre appearance, exist in their own artistic dimension created by the author’s imagination.
The final section of the exhibition, Maria’s Studio, is intended primarily as a platform for creative practices: young and adult visitors are invited to come here and, inspired by the artist’s works, will be willing to try themselves as artists.
The exhibition features more than 80 works by the artist from the collection of the Ponomarchuk family, the Maria Prymachenko Family Creative Heritage Charitable Foundation, and the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv.
A special highlight of the exhibition are the children’s books illustrated by Maria Prymachenko’s works. These are well-known proverbs, rhymes, and fairy tales from childhood, presented in a bright and talented artistic design. Alongside are the author’s original drafts of illustrations for a planned but unrealized publication.
Special attention should be paid to the bright, colorful, original signatures and sayings of Mariia Prymachenko herself. This is a kind of author’s code, which the museum decided to preserve as much as possible in its original form and convey its sound to the audience.
