
A ceremonial academy and the opening of the exhibition “The Voznytskyi Code” took place in Lviv to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Hero of Ukraine, museum professional and heritage conservator Borys Voznytskyi. During the event, the Lviv Regional Council presented awards bearing his name to museum professionals, restorers, heritage conservators, public figures and military personnel who work to preserve Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
The exhibition “The Voznytskyi Code” was opened at the Patyk Museum. The event was attended by representatives of museum institutions from seven regions of Ukraine and Kyiv, as well as representatives of the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the museum and academic community.
The exhibition features Borys Voznytskyi’s personal belongings, documents and photographs, paintings, portraits, as well as unique exhibits, some of which are being shown for the first time. The highlight of the exhibition is Ivan Marchuk’s painting “Moonlit Night”, which the artist presented to Borys Voznytskyi in 1955.
Acting Chair of the Lviv Regional Council Yurii Kholod stressed that Borys Voznytskyi saved and gathered for Ukraine and the world priceless treasures of culture, art and spirituality, thanks to which this heritage has remained Ukrainian.
The initiative to establish the Borys Voznytskyi Award came from the Commission on Historical and Cultural Heritage and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Council. The design and production of the award were carried out by the municipal institution of the Lviv Regional Council “Ivan Trush Lviv Vocational College of Decorative and Applied Arts”.
Earlier, the Lviv Regional Council declared 2026 the Year of Borys Voznytskyi to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth.
