Conversations with clergy, workshops and a charity fair for the Armed Forces: Sophia Fest organised in Vynnyky to mark the town’s day
Today, on 8 September, Sophia Fest was organised in Vynnyky on the occasion of the town’s day. The charity spiritual and educational event aims to support the mental health of the community and help raise funds for the residents of Vynnyky who are fighting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The charity festival was held on St Sophia’s Hill, where the UGCC’s St Sophia Cathedral is being built. Performances were organised by a school children’s choir, the Golos theatre studio of the Vynnyky People’s House and the Stozhary children’s ensemble. There were also masterclasses, auctions and speeches by invited clergy.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi presented letters of appreciation to local volunteer initiatives on the occasion of Vynnyky’s Day.
During the festival, priests also spoke to residents about how to live and take care of their mental and spiritual health during the war.
The main goal of the event is to raise funds to help the defenders of Ukraine and support the spirit of the residents of Vynnyky.
The first official mention of Vynnyky dates back to 1352. Since 2020, Vynnyky has been a part of the Lviv Metropolitan Territorial Community. As of 2023, almost 17 thousand people live here.
