In Lviv, a 24-year-old woman was sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of defrauding Ukrainian soldiers by pretending to represent a charitable foundation. The Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office proved in court that the woman posed as a volunteer from the Iryna Fedyshyn Foundation to carry out a fraud scheme.
According to the investigation, the Zakarpattia native orchestrated a scam in April targeting servicemen who were seeking vehicles for use on the front lines.
The fraudulent scheme operated as follows:
- The woman monitored the TikTok account of the Iryna Fedyshyn charity.
- In video comments, she identified soldiers requesting help with vehicles and collected their contact information.
- She then called the soldiers, introduced herself as a foundation representative, and offered to deliver a car for free — but only if they paid 4,000 UAH for fuel.
- Once the money was transferred to her bank card, she disappeared, never intending to send any vehicle.
In total, she deceived three soldiers and took 12,300 UAH. The scam was uncovered after one of the victims contacted the actual charity, which confirmed the woman had no connection to their organization.
The woman was convicted under Parts 2 and 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud).
She will remain in custody until the sentence becomes legally binding.
The investigation was carried out by:
- Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Administration No. 2
- Cybercrime Unit of Lviv Region provided operational support
The verdict will take effect after the appeal period expires.
