A lawyer in the Lviv region is suspected of organizing an illegal border crossing and threatening a judge
Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 40-year-old lawyer has been notified of suspicion. He is accused of organizing illegal transportation of a person across the state border of Ukraine and threatening a judge with murder in connection with her activities related to the administration of justice (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 1 of Article 377 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Organizing illegal border crossing
According to the investigation, during martial law, the lawyer promised a conscript for 16,000 US dollars to organize his unobstructed departure abroad. The criminal scheme involved creating fake documents about a non-existent illness of the conscript’s mother. Subsequently, based on these documents, as an accompaniment to the ‘sick’ mother abroad, ostensibly for her treatment, the man was supposed to cross the state border. The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving part of the money.
Threatening the judge
It was also established that the detained individual threatened a judge with murder. As a result of consideration of the case on bringing to administrative responsibility, the man was found guilty of driving a vehicle while intoxicated. After issuing the relevant ruling, the lawyer began threatening the judge with murder, sending threats of reprisal with inappropriate language in private messages to the judge.
At the motion of the prosecution, the suspect was taken into custody without the right of bail. Investigative actions are ongoing, and all persons involved in the crime are being identified. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the territorial administration of the State Bureau of Investigation, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
