
Law enforcement in Lviv region uncovered a hacking group involved in stealing and reselling gaming accounts. The accomplices hacked more than 610,000 profiles, which they later sold for cryptocurrency on websites with a Russian domain.
The scheme was organised by a 19-year-old resident of Drohobych. He met his accomplices on thematic gaming resources. The main objective of the criminals was to steal valuable gaming items and funds that owners kept on virtual accounts.
Cyber police specialists discovered more than 300 records containing data on ‘elite’ accounts. According to preliminary estimates, the shadow turnover of the scheme could reach 10 million UAH. Analysis of the information contained in the confiscated devices is currently ongoing.
