In Zolochiv, a case is unfolding against a 33-year-old former head of a local village council, who is accused of serious abuses of power and official position, according to part 2 of article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, which is overseeing the case, the suspect used his authority to forge official documents.
The investigation has found that in 2020, the former head forged village council certificates stating that he was the heir to deceased relatives who owned five land plots designated for individual farming. He approached the village council session requesting the production of technical documentation to clarify the plot boundaries.
After receiving the technical documentation, the former head issued a directive from the session approving the documents and transferring over 1.5 hectares of land worth more than 2 million hryvnias to himself. Investigative actions are currently ongoing, and the disputed plots have been seized.
The case is being handled by investigators from the Zolochiv District Division of the National Police in Lviv region. It is noted that according to Article 62 of the Ukrainian Constitution, the accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
