In Lviv, a woman will be tried for misappropriating 17,000 hryvnias by taking advantage of an incomplete transaction at an ATM. The incident occurred late last year near a shopping centre in Sykhiv.
A 53-year-old woman from Lviv noticed that the previous customer had not completed their transaction, cancelled the last action, and took the money returned by the ATM. She used these funds for her own needs.
The perpetrator was uncovered by criminal police operatives in collaboration with other services of Police No. 2 of the Lviv District Administration. The pre-trial investigation is complete, and the indictment has been sent to court. The woman faces up to eight years in prison.
The police remind citizens to be vigilant when using ATMs and to ensure transactions are completed to avoid similar situations.
