In Lviv, a 35-year-old resident is suspected of selling cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy) in large consignments worth almost UAH 1 million. This was reported under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the man repeatedly sold cocaine and ecstasy in the city, handing over the prohibited substances to buyers during personal meetings, “hand to hand”. Law enforcement officers documented three episodes of sale.
In May this year, the suspect sold almost 35 g of cocaine (in terms of the “pure” substance) for 5,000 US dollars. In June, he sold 150 ecstasy tablets with a total weight of 21.6 g for almost UAH 40,000. At the end of September, according to the investigation, the man again sold cocaine, this time in an especially large amount, receiving 15,300 US dollars for the consignment.
In total, the sale of more than 220 g of cocaine and ecstasy worth about the equivalent of UAH 1 million has been documented. Immediately after the last episode, the man was detained by law enforcement officers under Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, he has been notified of suspicion of the illegal acquisition, transportation and storage with intent to sell, as well as the illegal sale of narcotic drugs and particularly dangerous psychotropic substances in especially large amounts, committed repeatedly (Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In 2021, an indictment for an analogous offence had already been sent to court in respect of this Lviv resident, and the trial in that case is ongoing.
At the request of the prosecution, the court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention in custody. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region, with operational support provided by the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proved in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
