The Sambir City District Court sentenced a 52-year-old resident of Sambir to 3 years in prison for evading conscription for military service during mobilisation. Prosecutors of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office proved his guilt in court under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in June 2024 the man underwent a military medical commission, as a result of which he was declared fit for military service. This is confirmed by the relevant medical report.
After that, he was served with a summons to report to the enlistment office. However, the man refused to accept the summons, not even taking it in his hands, which was recorded in an official report. On the appointed day, he did not appear at the territorial recruitment and social support centre.
The accused explained his failure to appear by referring to his state of health and the fact that he considered himself to be ill, but he did not provide any medical documents to confirm the presence of any illnesses. The court established that at the time of receiving the summons and on the specified date of reporting, he was liable for military service and fit for duty, and had no documented valid reasons for failing to appear.
The pre-trial investigation in the case was carried out by investigators of the Sambir District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region. The court’s verdict will enter into legal force after the expiry of the time limit for lodging an appeal.
