A Resident of the Lviv Region Suspected of Cat Killing

A 39-year-old resident of the Lviv district has been suspected of the brutal killing of a cat. According to the police, in January, the man, while on his household premises, struck the cat belonging to his brother on the head with the handle of an axe. The animal died from the injuries sustained.

The crime investigation involved officers from Police Department No.1 of Lviv District Police Management No.2 under the direction of Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office. The perpetrator has been charged with an offence under part 3 of Article 299 (cruelty to animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
