In Lviv region rescuers find injured tourist on Mount Parashka

On 20 June, mountain rescuers in Lviv region assisted a 28-year-old Lviv resident who was injured and lost his way during a hike on Mount Parashka in the Carpathians.

In the evening, while climbing Mount Parashka, the man injured his arm and, as it began to get dark quickly, realised he had lost his bearings and could not find his way on his own. Recognising the danger, the hiker called the Rescue Service on 101.

They were able to maintain phone contact with him, so he stayed in touch with the rescuers and sent them the approximate coordinates of his location. This significantly sped up the search and rescue operation, and by 23:58 the mountain rescuers had found the injured tourist.

The emergency workers provided the man with first aid and then transported him by quad bike to the foot of the mountain, where they handed him over to the police.

The rescuers stress that the Carpathians demand responsibility: a charged phone, geolocation switched on, registering your route with mountain rescuers and keeping calm in a difficult situation are often crucial and help ensure help can be provided more quickly.
