In the Lviv region, an indictment has been submitted to court against a 39-year-old resident of one of the villages in Lviv district, who is accused of the brutal killing of a cat.
According to the investigation, at the end of January the man struck the cat, which belonged to his brother, on the head with a wooden axe handle. The animal died from its injuries.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of Police Station No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 under the procedural supervision of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office under Part 3 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (cruel treatment of animals). The investigation has been completed, and the indictment has been submitted to the court.
The sanction of the specified article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
